Fixed.Updated today. Now it crashes. Can’t even open the app now.
Edit: fixed. Works well now thanks!
What happened to pinned toots?Great app but I’ve noticed that pinned toots no longer show up on the app but they’re still there on the web version.
Good overall, few missing featuresWish I could have multiple feeds, and wish I could post videos and photos together like on twitter.
Somewhat goodI don’t understand why there’s no option to read from other instances
So far quite good. This has been an enjoyable journey. The app is wonderful and it gives me all I need. Thank you.
As of 10/23/2023 both the pad and phone versions have been crashing quite often.
Very goodIt’s actually far better than I expected has good features and a lot of instances to choose from. 10/10 can reach Twitter
levels.
Have a good day
Amazing app. Moving away from twitter.Get Mastodon now and do not use twitter.
INFII love the app. It’s similar to Twitter, threads, and truth social. It’s decentralized, however. Which makes it even
better. I recommend trying and engaging with people thru the app, I’ve only had wonderful experiences. Thanks guys!
Not bad, but a little buggy sometimesIt’s pretty similar to Twitter in the way that its quality of life is pretty great. The only problem I’ve had so far is when
updating my profile. Me using iPhone, any time I want to update my profile information, the app will automatically have a stroke
and die.
One quirkWhat would make this app 5 stars for me is if I don’t lose my place in home feed after visiting other tabs of the app.
Almost greatIt’s pretty much twitter or x or whatever. Great platform, diverse crowd, it’s simple, no ads.
One major problem though, for me almost every time I go to post something, the app freezes. I’m using the iPhone SE.
The SwitchThis is shaping up to be an excellent platform for discussing difficult topics in a civil manner.
What happened?Unable to follow anyone after switching to the app.
I like the idea but…I like the idea but its just a rebranded Reddit tbh
Much better than Twitter!Since there’s no corporate agenda driving things, you can find anything and everything on Mastodon! This app is simple and easy
to use. I’ve never been this excited about social media since 2007!
True sense of communityThe app is intuitive and easy to use. The Mastodon user community is respectful and thoughtful. I haven’t encountered any
trolls. There are smart, interesting, creative people on Mastodon and it’s easier for the average user to pick up followers than
on the birdsite.
Good, but not user friendlyWhile Mastodon combines my favorite aspects of Twitter and Facebook, the concept of joining a server for a specific topic is
confusing to me.
Wonderful communityI’m just getting started here however my very first post was welcomed and I feel like this community is based on being a
supportive. Easy to use and get started and connect with others ⭐️ 💫
OfflineGood app when it works but lately more often than not it just indicates “Offline” and I have to use a browser. Killing and
restarting the app or changing networks doesn’t help.
Way better than TwitterRemember when Twitter wasn’t a garbage fire?
Was difficult……to find an appropriate server and get started, but once I got going I find it respectable, responsive, and downright elegant.
Why can’t one post a video along with a static image? Tribel Social lets me 😝
How do you private message?I can’t find a way to do this in the app
Twitter has competition!1000 times better than Twitter.
VoiceoverI love this app. It would be awesome if you could add reply, boost. To the rotor for Voiceover users this would allow us to swipe
up and select an option. Thank you,
Great app, great platformI love how friendly and accessible Mastodon has been.
OKOk - Ap but it is not obvious to A user how to know
What streams they are looking at
In the main window versus the side-window
Thank you for being hereMastodon - alive and kicking
Twitter -slowly driving off cliff
Friendlier and safer than Twitter …… and more interactive than Instagram.
Social Media without feeling violatedNo ads and no algorithm to trick you into an endless scroll
Only one problemWhen using this app and i turn my iPhone sideways the screen does not flip. This us not a big issue but many videos would be
better viewed that way.
Easier than you thinkGreat app. Simple, honest, and free.
Excellent twitter replacementHas the feel of early Twitter, before twitter got flooded with right wing trolls and hate speech.
Good, albeit with a couple usability issuesIn dark mode, the cursor stays black instead of following the color of the text.
The right-hand column can be distracting. A preference to hide it would be useful.
Interesting shelter for Twitter migrationIt will grow on you, you just need patience! At least you know it can not be bought by somebody with lots of money and lack of
character!
nice but..you have to make separate accounts for different servers and they aren’t linked.
vimeo, artstation, youtube links don’t embed and autoplay.
Needs workIt’s the official app, and… no multiple accounts? I can report and block… myself? I hope some of these issues are fixed
soon.
Come all ye twitter refugees, this is our new homeJoin the biggest server you can find, and it’s just like twitter, with just a bit more techie culture. I love it, you will too!
Love itIt’s under a lot of stress at the moment, but it’s great overall :)
Use it through androidIt’s not very good on Apple...unfortunately. But on Android it’s the new Twitter.
Request multiple logins across servers pleaseI am enjoying Mastodon so far, and this app is elegant enough, but I run two accounts actively and it would be helpful if we could
have multiple account logins across mastodon servers on this app.

App is definitely still a WIPThe app is still a work in progress. I started on the app and was really confused because a lot didn’t work! If you’re going
to use Mastodon make sure you start with a browser first :)
Explore Tab AwfulThe app itself is good but the explore tab is awful especially for single user instances who won’t have posts or news populate
with no way to change the default tab. Lacking in feature parity as well with no federated timeline to be found and very few
settings.
There should be an option for thisThere should be an option to change the name of my @ like not the “mastodon.social” thing but the actual name of my account.
JodyI haven’t been here long enough to really criticize this app. That being said, I have recently tried out other sites after
moving away from x and I like this place the best. 🙂
Fix the filters! This official Mastodon app is pretty great, except that filters just don’t seem to work in it. My filters do work in the
Mastodon web UI, just not in the iOS app. If that gets fixed I would rate it five stars.
Like the social media, the app itself is messyDon’t take this as a criticism of the federated social media this app is designed to allow access to so much as the app itself
is slow, buggy, and lacks features found on the website or several third party apps. I only used it as long as I did because of
inertia.
Good, but Very DifficultI liked Mastodon but unfortunately it was hard to figure out still, I would have stayed but dared to log off and was never able to
find my way back so I found an easier place to be.
Hashtags and viewing optionsI don’t think people know how to search using hash tags yet. I was think it would almost be like fet where there is abundance of
hashtags for every kink. Maybe reach out to the kink community on instagram and fetlife to get them interested in using mastodon
more bc this could be huge.
Hides Mastodon’s unique featuresI really want to like this, but it hides many of the features that make Mastodon unique. For example, the local and federated
timeline are immensely important for more connected communities on smaller instances, but are buried many menus deep under
different names.
Doesn’t updateNo comments posted by anyone for a week. It has to be me ??
Good but really buggyI can’t make posts from the iOS client because it crashes while typing and I have to exit the app
OfflineThe app is saying I am offline at the top of the screen. It won’t allow me to interact with people, or do anything. Is there a
way to fix this?
Nice app, but….….It’s only a three star app because the Search view when using an iPad isn’t expandable, making for an awkward reading
experience.
Always offlineThere’s nothing wrong with my device—all my other apps are working—yet Mastodon almost always says it is “Offline.” If
you are trying to refresh, just do it.
I prefer your app to Ivory, because Ivory is so overloaded with options that it is distracting. But at least it works.
LimitedNotifications don’t work, and you can’t see pinned posts. That’s annoying. The web version is better.
Crashes on IOS 16.3The system is upgraded to 16.3, and every time I open the message window, the program crashes and exits.
Weds updateI’m recent weeks I’ve been able to share toots from other apps (browser, Feedly) as normal. Share screen loads then disappears
immediately. Please fix.
A bit weird but it’s funLove it even though it’s definitely got some quirks and some weird flaws but it’s still better than twitter right now.
Unable to postI’m on mastadon and I like it but for some reason I can’t post anything. As soon as I try to post anything I’m kicked out.
There is apparently no way to communicate to get this issue resolved with them so I guess I’m just going to fade away.
Mine freezes no matter what I doThis is not a review of the content — which is 100 stars. But I can’t wait to be able to post. Well, I’m reading what I just
wrote and thinking maybe it’s fine, for now. I wish App Store would let people rate reviews (does it?)
Good with Great PotentialPretty good adaptation of the what you see in the browser. Could be great if we get:
- full support for markdown
- support for server specific flavors
- a single column view on ipad
- catching up with notifications on the browser matches on the app
Love it but it has a problemI’m having a problem with this bricking and freezing or crashing while I’m creating a post with a link in it. Hoping a new
release fixes it
Trouble with accountCan not log in. No emails received to reset password.
GlitchyIt’s not Twitter, but then again it’s not Twitter. It will evolve to be more user friendly in time. And it’s not Twitter so
it’s all good.
Don’t Hide the Local TimelineThe local timeline is one of the best features of Mastodon, especially for smaller, community-oriented instances. Please consider
making it more visible and easier to access rather than burying it behind the magnifying glass.
Needs way more usersMore Twitter people need to come over. Also, they need a trending news section which I miss. Still a little buggy.
Doing okay despite the stretch marks. After finding the whole choose a browser title thing confusing, I am finding it easier to navigate Mastodon. I’m big girl
enough to ignore the pituitary and momentary growth spurt due to the falling out of Muskrat love. I hope more take the jump from
the T and go Mastodon.
Just doesn’t work well yet, disappointingStill can’t upload a header photo, it still takes many attempts, clearing cache etc to try and post a photo. I want to love it
but it’s really not working well
ServersWould give a higher review but the servers seem pretty overloaded right now. Consequently, my experience has been a little clunky
so far.
